MCRide Connect

  • MCRide Connect is an affordable transportation option for eligible residents in McHenry County
  • Subsidizes up to $16 through electronic vouchers that may be applied to Uber/UZURV riders 
  • Riders must enroll with McHenry County and will receive confirmation within 7-10 business days 

MCRide Dial-A-Ride

  • MCRide is a curb-to-curb, demand-response public transit service available to riders throughout the entire County.
  • As a dial-a-ride program, MCRide service is a coordinated countywide paratransit service, and vehicles do not travel in a fixed route each day. Riders schedule their trips in advance and the vehicle provides curb-to-curb service from the rider's desired pick-up and drop-off destinations.
  • MCRide has a distance-based, cash-only fare structure.

Pace Fixed Bus Routes

  • Pace Fixed Bus Routes are traditional bus routes served by Pace Suburban Bus since 1978.
  • McHenry County is served by Pace Routes 806, 807, 808, and 550.*
  • These routes accept the RTA Free/Reduced Fare Permits.

*Pace Route 809 from Richmond to the Fox Lake Metra Station was eliminated in January 2019.

*Effective 4/12/19, there is a detour on Route 807 at the McHenry County Government Center. Keep current on the status of this detour by visiting Pace's website.

Metra Commuter Rail

  • Metra is the commuter rail line connecting McHenry County to the Northwest Suburbs and the City of Chicago.
  • Union Pacific Northwest Line has seven stations located in McHenry County.

RTA Travel Training Program

The Regional Transportation Authority offers a Travel Training Program that teaches individuals with disabilities and older adults how to use CTA, Metra, and Pace buses and trains. The service is free except for the cost of transit fares during training sessions. The travel training program will assist you with learning how to ride the service until you are comfortable doing it on your own. To sign up contact: traveltraining@rtachicago.org or 312-913-3120.
