Adult Pre-Trial Services
McHenry County Pretrial Services’ mission is to provide accurate and timely information to the Court in making informed decisions regarding release or detainment of justice involved individuals. Pretrial Services is responsible for the supervision and monitoring of clients in the least restrictive manner emphasizing court re-appearance and public safety.
Equipment (GPS, CAM, EM)
Electronic Monitoring (EM)/House Arrest (HA)/Home Confinement
Allows the client to work/attend treatment/attend school while being confined to their residence, at times set by the Court. All clients must be subject to a curfew, which is set by the Court or Probation Officer. All curfew changes must be preapproved by the Court/Probation Officer and entered in the monitoring website. If a curfew is not set by the Court, it will be 6PM-6AM. EM/HA is installed and monitored by the Probation Officer. EM/HA is often required to be installed prior to release from custody. Cost for adult clients is $5.00 per day. The client’s court case will be assessed the monitoring fee. If the client is found not guilty, the assessed costs will be waived and paid by the Court. There are no monitoring fees for juvenile cases. The client may live outside of McHenry County (in another county or state). It should be noted that clients may have to travel back to McHenry County to complete general maintenance on the equipment periodically.
Global Positioning System (GPS)
24/7 violation monitoring of protected addressed (also known as exclusion zones) by a monitoring center. Exclusion zones are an area the client is not allowed to be in. Local law enforcement is notified immediately of any unlawful entry into an exclusion zone and will be dispatched to the victim’s residence to ensure their safety. Equipment is installed by the Probation Officer prior to the client’s release from jail and is monitored by a third-party vendor. Cost for adult clients is $8.50 per day. The client’s court case will be assessed the monitoring fee. If the client is found not guilty, the assessed costs will be waived and paid by the Court. The client may live outside of McHenry County (in another county or state). It should be noted that clients may have to travel back to McHenry County to complete general maintenance on the equipment periodically.
Continuous Alcohol Monitoring (CAM)
24/7 monitoring of a client’s alcohol consumption collected from the perspiration in the air immediately above the skin. Installed by the Probation Officer and monitored by a third-party vendor. CAM can monitor alcohol levels while also enforcing a curfew set by the Court. Cost for adult clients is $10.00 per day. The client’s court case will be assessed the monitoring fee. If the client is found not guilty, the assessed costs will be waived and paid by the Court. The client may live outside of McHenry County (in another county or state). It should be noted that clients may have to travel back to McHenry County to complete general maintenance on the equipment periodically.
