Home MenuWetland Restoration Fund
The McHenry County Department of Planning & Development is not seeking proposals for grant projects at this time.
The McHenry County Stormwater Management Ordinance's Wetland Restoration Fund (WRF) is a competitive grant with a purpose of collecting mitigation fees and dispersing funds to compensate for wetland impacts exceeding the mitigation thresholds. The WRF must help McHenry County achieve its goal of “no-net-loss” of wetland acreage.
There are two funds - one for the Fox River Watershed and one for the Kishwaukee River Watershed. All funds collected to date have been within the Fox River Watershed. Once a fund reaches a threshold of $75,000, a Request for Proposals is initiated.
Fees paid in-lieu of wetland mitigation shall be expended for grant projects that will restore, create or enhance wetlands. Funds shall only be expended for projects located entirely within McHenry County. Funds shall only be expended for projects that will be managed in perpetuity by a qualified conservation management agency under a conservation easement or as approved by the McHenry County Stormwater Management Commission.
