Adoption Process 

Submit an adoption application to begin the adoption process!

Adoptions are by appointment only at this time. In order to meet adoptable pets, you must first fill out an adoption application online. After your application is reviewed, an employee will contact you to go over any further questions and set up an appointment time.

Adoption Fees:
- Dogs: $125; Puppies under 6 months: $150
- Cats: $80; Kittens under 6 months: $100

Disclosure

If an Adopter is unable to keep the animal, the animal may be returned within 10 days of adoption for a full refund or to exchange for another pet. If an Adopter returns the animal after 10 days, the adoption fee is forfeited and a relinquish fee applies. Adopter releases and discharges McHenry County Animal Control forever from liability, for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by this animal after adoption, and from any causes of action, claims, suits or demands whatsoever that may arise as a result of such injury or damages.
