Public Health Ordinance Revisions

The McHenry County Department of Health is in the process of revising the Public Health Ordinance. Part of the process includes allowing the people of McHenry County the opportunity to submit feedback regarding proposed changes. Public input is an important part of the process, and a summary of all public comment is provided to the Board of Health and the County Board for their consideration.

Revising the Public Health Ordinance is a multistep process before the McHenry County Board votes on the finalized proposed changes in July.

You are encouraged to attend a public meeting or email your questions and suggestions to the appropriate contact. Information about email contacts and the draft ordinances can be found in the Proposed Changes and Frequently Submitted Questions section of this page.

Tentative Meeting Schedule

The following meetings will be held at the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock:

May 28, 2026, 8:30 a.m. Public Health and Community Services Committee Meeting Review of draft changes, seek approval to move to the full County Board
June 2, 2026, 8:30 a.m. Planning, Environment and Development Committee Presentation to the Committee to solicit comments
June 4, 2026, 8:30 a.m. Finance and Audit Committee Review of proposed fee changes
June 11, 2026, 9:00 a.m. Committee of the Whole Ordinance on 30-day review
June 16, 2026, 7:00 p.m. McHenry County Board Ordinance on 30-day review
July 16, 2026, 9:00 a.m. Committee of the Whole Discussion on proposed revisions
July 21, 2026, 7:00 p.m. McHenry County Board Board votes on ordinance revisions.
