Electronics and More Recycling
We are hosting several residential recycling events throughout 2025 for McHenry County residents in partnership with Elgin Recycling, Paper Tiger Document Solutions and the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County. These recycling events give McHenry County residents the opportunity to drop off items that cannot be thrown away (electronics, fees apply) and other items that can be recycled (Styrofoam, textiles, packing peanuts, fluorescent bulbs and other bulbs that contain mercury and more).

Household Hazardous Waste Recycling
All Illinois residents are invited to dispose of their household hazardous waste at this event. There is no cost to dispose of accepted items, but pre-registering online is required. Examples of items that will be accepted include cleaning products, fluorescent bulbs (tubes and CFLs), antifreeze, drain cleaner, used motor oil and more. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to ensure their spot by using this online pre-registration form.
