FEEDING BABY

Having a baby is a very exciting time!  WIC can help you learn more about your baby's behavior and how to understand your baby's needs.

 Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding

WIC Encourages breastfeeding and provides support you need to get breastfeeding off to a great start.  Breast milk is all your baby needs for the first six months of life.

Breastfeeding information

Bottle Feeding

WIC can help you learn your baby's hunger cues and satiety cues, how to safely prepare and store formula, as well as when and how to start pureed baby foods. Your baby should drink no more than 32 ounces (960 ml.) of formula in 24 hours.

Amount and schedule of formula feeding

The most important thing to remember is that your baby's feeding needs are unique.  No book can tell you precisely how much or how often they need to be fed or exactly how you should handle them during feedings.  You will discover these things for yourself as you and your baby get to know each other.

Starting Solid Foods

Once your baby is 6 months old, they may be ready to start trying solid foods.

Starting to solid foods

Talk to you local WIC provider for more information about introducing solid foods.
