All ASSESSMENT NOTICES WILL BE POSTED ONLINE IN 2026

Starting this year, the Supervisor of Assessments will not be mailing assessment notices for properties that are only adjusted by the equalization factor. The notices are still being generated and will be posted on our property tax bill portal, Devnet Wedge.

Notices will still be mailed for revaluations, farmland, and new properties. The McHenry County Board made this change to save taxpayers over $65,000 in postage costs per year.

The 2026 assessment notices will not begin to be posted until mid‑June at the earliest. Publishing is staggered based on when each township completes its assessment roll. Sign up to be alerted when your township’s assessments are published.

Below you will find: a video and instructions on accessing your assessment notice, the signup for alerts, and additional resources.

Note: Tax Bills and Assessment Notices are two different documents. The change in mailing status only applies to the 2026 assessment notice and future assessment notices. The alert signup is only for the assessment notices, to sign up for Property Tax Bill alerts and Bill Pay click: Sign In | McHenry County Treasurer

How to view the Assessment Notice in Devnet Wedge

To access your Assessment Notice, click this link mchenryil.devnetwedge.com

  • To search by Parcel Index Number (PIN), use only the 10 digits with or without dashes. (Ignore any additional numbers such as 0040, 0030, 0060, etc.)
  • To search by address, use the house number and street only. (Entering an address that is too specific with "Ave", "Drive", "N", "E", etc. may lead to poor results.)
  • On a desktop computer, the Property Assessment Notice link will appear at the top of the right-side menu.
  • On a mobile device or tablet, click the three-line menu icon, the Property Assessment Notice will be an option in that menu.

Important Information and Dates

The 2025 tax bills (paid in 2026) were mailed in early May 2026, per the Treasurer's website. Those bills were extended (calculated) with the final 2025 assessments. To view the 2025 Tax information and bills, the full assessment information, and Assessment Notices visit mchenryil.devnetwedge.com

Note: You can no longer file a complaint or appeal regarding the 2025 assessment. If appropriate, you may consider filing for the 2026 assessment—payable in 2027—once the 2026 assessments are published.

The 2026 Assessment Notices will replace the 2025 Assessment Notices when they are available for your review. Tentative publishing dates and complaint filing deadlines will be available here in June 2026. Signup to receive alerts.

Understanding the Assessment Notice and Actions

The assessment notice is often misunderstood. So, we created this short video to show you how to read your notice, understand what it means, explain how equalization may affect your tax bill, and learn what actions you can take if needed.

Other videos will be posted to build your understanding of the assessment process.
