The Victim/Witness Program provides advocacy and assistance to victims and witnesses of violent crime.
Coordinators assigned to this unit are available to assist victims and witnesses of the following offenses: 

  • Murder (1st & 2nd Degree)
  • Attempt Murder
  • Involuntary Manslaughter
  • Reckless Homicide
  • Reckless Conduct
  • Kidnapping / Aggravated Kidnapping
  • Aggravated Battery
  • Assault / Aggravated Assault
  • Criminal Sexual Assault / Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault/ Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault
  • Criminal Sexual Abuse / Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse
  • Exploitation of a Child
  • Stalking / Aggravated Stalking
  • Domestic Battery / Aggravated Domestic Battery
  • Hate Crime
  • Elder Abuse
  • Driving under the Influence involving Death or Injury
  • Arson / Aggravated Arson

Victim/Witness Coordinators can be reached by calling (815) 334-4159 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Coordinators provide information about an individual’s rights as a victim of a crime, the case status and provide referrals to additional services needed.  They also assist with Crime Victim Compensation forms and follow up with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office on their behalf.
