Having a baby is a very exciting time! WIC can help you learn more about your baby's behavior and how to understand your baby's needs.
WIC Encourages breastfeeding and provides support you need to get breastfeeding off to a great start. Breast milk is all your baby needs for the first six months of life.
WIC can help you learn how to pace your baby's feeding to prevent over eating and how to safely prepare formula when needed. Your baby should drink no more than 32 ounces (960 ml.) of formula in 24 hours.
The most important thing to remember is that your baby's feeding needs are unique. No book can tell you precisely how much or how often they need to be fed or exactly how you should handle them during feedings. You will discover these things for yourself as you and your baby get to know each other.
Starting Solid Foods
Once your baby is 6 months old, they may be ready to start trying solid foods.
Talk to you local WIC provider for more information about introducing solid foods.
