WIC encourages breastfeeding and provides the support you need to get breastfeeding off to a good start. Breast milk is all your baby needs for the first six months of life. Human milk provides virtually all the protein, sugar and fat your baby needs to be healthy, and it also contains many substances that benefit your baby's immune system. These substances protect your baby against a wide variety of diseases and infections not only while they are breastfeeding but in some cases long after they have weaned. Formula cannot offer this protection. Find information on WIC breastfeeding support here.
