WOODSTOCK, Ill. – The next presentation in the McHenry County Talk and Tour best management practices series will focus on sustainability measures that wastewater treatment facilities can take.

The event takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 in Conference Rooms A and B of the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock.

 Fox Metro Water Reclamation District Director Karen Clementi will give a presentation on the many sustainability measures underway at the district, which serves the Aurora region and is the largest wastewater plant on the Fox River. After that presentation, Woodstock Wastewater Treatment Superintendent Anne George will speak on water re-use. Following the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Woodstock South Wastewater Treatment Plant and its re-use infrastructure.

 The event is free, and people can attend either in person or virtually, but registration is required, and people can do so by visiting https://tinyurl.com/BMPTourSignup. Attendees will receive a map to the Administration Building, the wastewater plant, and the virtual attendance link, the morning of the event.

 This is the fifth year of the Talk and Tour series, co-hosted by the McHenry County Planning and Development Department and the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County. The free workshops showcase the environmental and economic benefits of innovative best management practices that have been successfully implemented in our region. Each of the best management practices are designed to protect and maintain the integrity of natural resources, reduce flooding in communities, and promote land, water and energy conservation.
