McHenry County Department of Health Shares Results of 5th Annual Operation Dropbox Donation Drive
IMG_0620

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) is pleased to announce the results of the 5th Annual Operation Dropbox donation drive to benefit Veterans Path to Hope, a local organization whose purpose is to support local veterans in need in the areas of housing and employment assistance, transitional living, basic needs (food, furniture, household goods, etc.), peer support activities, caregiver training, and counseling.

This year, Operation Dropbox saw an unprecedented level of community support, with 87 organizations participating as dropsite locations for public donations, shattering the program’s previous best of 31 participating organizations. The total weight of donations for 2024 also surpassed last year’s total of 5,466 pounds, reaching 8,283 pounds.

On Tuesday, June 11, the MCDH convened volunteers from the McHenry County Medical Reserve Corps and Veterans Path to Hope at the McHenry County Division of Transportation to hold a state-mandated exercise, utilizing the donations collected to simulate the process of unloading and distributing medical countermeasures during emergencies.

Operation Dropbox, now in its fifth year, has grown tremendously, showcasing the community's commitment to supporting local veterans. The success of this event is made possible through the collaboration of the MCDH, Veterans Path to Hope, McHenry County Veterans Assistance Commission, McHenry County Division of Transportation, and the dedicated volunteers from the McHenry County Medical Reserve Corps.

For more information about Veterans Path to Hope, please call (815) 321-4673 or visit veteranspathtohope.org. For more information about becoming a Medical Reserve Corps volunteer or the Operation Dropbox donation drive, please email health-nursing@mchenrycountyil.gov  or call (815) 334-4500.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year’s Operation Dropbox the most successful yet!
