McHenry County Department of Health Announces Fall 2023 COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) is pleased to announce the availability of the Fall 2023 COVID-19 vaccine at both our Crystal Lake and Woodstock locations.

In our continuous commitment to public health, we are providing the Fall 2023 COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals who meet specific criteria.

CDC Bridge Access Program Eligibility:
Adults aged 19 and older without comprehensive COVID-19 vaccine coverage through their health insurance are eligible. This includes individuals who are uninsured or underinsured, meaning their health insurance either does not cover COVID-19 vaccinations or lacks first-dollar coverage (co-pay free) for COVID-19 vaccinations. The vaccine is being provided by the state through 12/31/2024 or while supplies last. Patients will not incur any out-of-pocket expenses.

VFC (Vaccines for Children) Program Eligibility:
Children aged 6 months to 18 years, uninsured or underinsured individuals, and those on public aid or individuals of American Indian/Alaskan Native heritage are eligible for the vaccine. For those on public aid, there will be no out-of-pocket fee, although an administration fee may apply, as is common with other VFC-provided vaccines.

Who Is Not Eligible (any age):
Individuals whose health insurance covers vaccines, including those with private insurance, Medicaid recipients aged 19 and older, Medicare recipients with Part B, and Tricare recipients, are not eligible for our current vaccine supply. It's important to note that the MCDH does not currently stock the vaccine for individuals whose health insurance covers vaccines. If this applies to you, we encourage you to contact your primary care physician or local pharmacies for vaccination options.

When scheduling your appointment by calling 815-334-4500, our team will inquire about your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your eligibility, we recommend reaching out to your insurance provider for clarification.
