WOODSTOCK, Ill. - Several locations in McHenry County are serving as warming centers to help those in need during the ongoing cold snap.
Visitors to these centers must be masked.
The list includes:
• McHenry Municipal Center, 333 S. Green Street. Visitors must check in at the police dispatch center or records division.
• Richmond Township, 7812 Route 31, Richmond: Open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Salvation Army, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake: Open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Lake in the Hills Community Room, 600 Harvest Gate: Please call 847-658-5676 for access. Sleeping accommodations are not available.
• Port Barrington Community Center, 69 S. Circle Ave. Open upon request.
In light of the severe weather, additional support to shelter the homeless has been set up. If you or someone you know is homeless and living in places unfit for human habitation, please contact Hope Takes Action at 815-385-3251.
