Main Street in Richmond resurfacing begins Monday

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that resurfacing of Main Street (U.S. 12) from Kenosha Street (Illinois 173) to Tryon Grove Road/Kuhn Road (U.S. 12), in Richmond, will require daily, intermittent lane closures, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, May 18.

The project, which consists of patching and resurfacing the 2-mile stretch Main Street, widening shoulders, constructing ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and replacing deteriorated curbs, is expected to be completed in late December.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
