The County Board Approves the Ford School Landmark Nomination
Woodstock, Ill. — In September of 2017, a representative of the Village of Lake in the Hills nominated The Ford School to be designated as a historic landmark. In support of the application, the Village submitted a record showing the history and development of the property. In addition, in mid-May, McHenry County Historic Preservation commissioners met with Bob Spooner of the Lake in the Hills Historical Society, who gave a tour of the site.
The McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission voted in July to recommend to the County Board that the site be designated a local historic landmark. The full County Board began reviewing the proposed landmark ordinance on August 20th and voted to approve the landmark designation on September 17th. A dedication ceremony will be scheduled some time in late October or early November.
