MCDOT's “Construction Survival Guide” Offers Businesses Helpful Tips
WOODSTOCK, Ill. – If your McHenry County business is located in or near a work zone, the McHenry County Division of Transportation has a great planning tool to help you overcome the inconveniences.
Our Construction Survival Guide, available online at our website at www.mchenrycountydot.org, offers tips for businesses to ensure that customers know you are open for business and how to get to your store.
“While McHenry County businesses benefit from well-maintained roads with improved capacity and modern design and signaling, we understand that the work itself can cause headaches for business owners. Several years ago, we started printing a Construction Survival Guide to help businesses plan for the disruptions caused by road construction. With construction season once again in full swing, we’d like to remind businesses that there are measures they can take to minimize the inconveniences,” Director of Transportation/County Engineer Joe Korpalski said.
Tips offered in the 15-page guide include placing temporary signage to let passers-by know how to access stores and where to park, using social media to keep abreast of road construction progress, and working with neighboring businesses and local chamber of commerce. Businesses along roads where construction is planned but not yet started are encouraged to get involved and plan early in the process.
