Christopher Birong Sentenced to Seven Years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Offense of Drug-Induced Homicide

CHRISTOPHER BIRONG SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE OFFENSE OF DRUG-INDUCED HOMICIDE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Christopher Birong, 46, was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Honorable Judge Sharon Prather after pleading guilty to Drug-Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony.
On July 10, 2018, Shawn Ackerman, of McHenry Illinois, died of a heroin overdose. An investigation confirmed that Birong was responsible for the delivery of the fatal heroin dose.
This case was investigated by the McHenry Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Brian Miller of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
