Randi Freese joined the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office in 2008 as an intern in the traffic and misdemeanor divisions, before being hired full-time as an Assistant State’s Attorney in 2010 upon her graduation from law school. She worked her way up through the office, prosecuting every type of crime. In the process, she gained a reputation as a tough, talented, and thorough prosecutor. Randi prosecuted many of the most high-profile cases in McHenry County over the past decade and held the roles of Criminal Chief and First Assistant prior to being elected McHenry County State’s Attorney in 2024. Function
The State's Attorney's Office serves as prosecutor of persons charged with violating the criminal statutes and traffic laws of the State of Illinois. We further provide legal advice and representation to the McHenry County Board, elected officials and department heads as to their duties and responsibilities under the law, represent and advise the County and its Elected Officials in civil litigation arising out of their official duties, enforce County ordinances, file and prosecute petitions in Juvenile Court on behalf of abused or neglected minors, and assist with the collection of child support payments.
