Elizabeth Long Sentenced to Six Years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance

ELIZABETH LONG SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE OFFENSE OF DELIVERY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Elizabeth Long, 24, was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Honorable Judge Sharon Prather after pleading guilty to Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class 1 Felony. 

On September 22, 2017, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department investigated a fatal drug overdose. In the course of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Department recovered Facebook Messenger messages between the deceased and Elizabeth Long indicating that she coordinated to provide heroin to the deceased during the late night hours of September 21, 2017. Further interviews and investigation by the Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Long delivered the fatal dose of heroin to the deceased.

This case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. This case was prosecuted by Brian Miller of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
