Claudia Peters Sentenced to Five and a Half Years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Offenses of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence

CLAUDIA PETERS SENTENCED TO FIVE AND A HALF YEARS

 IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE OFFENSES OF AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 53-year-old Claudia Peters of Cary, Illinois, pled guilty to two charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, class 2 felonies and was sentenced to five and a half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. 

In April of 2017, Peters was stopped by the Cary Police Department after a witness called in a complaint for erratic driving.  Following an investigation, Peters was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and Peters refused to provide a breath sample.

In September of 2017, Peters was stopped by an officer with the McHenry County Conservation District after the officer observed numerous traffic violations.  Following an investigation, Peters was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.  Peters consented to a blood draw and testing revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .387, more than 4 times the legal limit. 

An investigation into Peter’s background revealed that she has been convicted of a total of 3 prior violations for the offense of Driving Under the Influence. 

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Randi Freese.  These cases were investigated by the Cary and McHenry County Conservation District Police Departments.
