Shauntaine D. Curry Sentenced to 12 Years in the Department of Corrections for Criminal Sexual Assault

SHAUNTAINE D. CURRY SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 28-year-old Shauntaine Curry formerly of Harvard, Illinois, was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of criminal sexual assault by the Honorable Judge Cowlin. Curry was found guilty following a bench trial on October 26, 2017. On July 25, 2016, Curry entered the victim’s home while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her. Defendant was located blocks from the residence by the Harvard Police Department.
Under the Truth in Sentencing Guidelines, Curry will have to serve 85% of the sentence and will have to register as a lifetime sex offender upon his release from prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Sharyl Eisenstein and Mary Ann Scholl. The case was investigated by the Harvard Police Department.
