Flood Hotwash

McHenry County experienced record flooding in July of this year. McHenry County EMA will host a county-wide hotwash (after-action review) of the response and immediate recovery on the afternoon of September 20th.

Some of the topics to be covered will include:

  • Notification and warning
  • Communications
  • Debris Management
  • Damage Assessment for both public bodies and individual assistance.
  • Flood Control
  • Resource Sharing
  • Volunteer / Donations Coordination

Communities and Townships from the Wisconsin border all the way to Kane County fought the flood waters primarily with sandbags and plastic sheeting. McHenry County and the multitude of jurisdictions within would like to explore alternatives to this labor intensive, and often failure prone method to control flood waters. In that light we have invited a number of vendors to discuss these alternative methods.

This after action review will be held from 1:00PM – 3:00PM (CST). Immediately following, time has been set aside from 3:00PM – 4:00PM for any vendors who would like to present alternative flood control methods (alternatives to sandbagging). This invitation is on a first come – first serve basis. Vendors may attend the entire event.

If a vendor would like to attend and set up a booth, please plan to arrive by 12:30PM. Vendors will also have the opportunity to give a 5 – 10 minute presentation to the group.

Please fill out the attached form to RSVP.

VENDOR RSVP'S MUST BE RECEIVED no later than September 13, 2017, 2:00PM

Completed forms can be emailed to purchasing department at
