Got Love? Volunteer!

There are many ways you can help.  From walking the dogs to helping out in the office with mailings, we can always use an extra hand to make our animals happy during their stay with us. 

HOW TO VOLUNTEER -- We are always in need of volunteers willing to play with and exercise the animals.  Simply spending quiet time with a hyperactive dog or playing chase-the-feather with a cat can help animals become more adoptable.  It also helps the staff because they are busy setting up visits, feeding, cleaning and checking animals' health status.

BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING -- Volunteering at Animal Control can be a very rewarding experience, but do you really know the benefits?  Here are just a few more reasons to volunteer.

• You'll be helping out animals in need.  This is probably one of the greatest rewards you will encounter.  Every day there are many animals left without homes.  Sheltering and caring for just a few is enough to brighten anyone's day.

• You'll be making lots of furry friends.  If you like animals, this is the place for you!

• You'll learn from the experience.  There are skills you will learn from volunteering that you'll have never learned elsewhere.

• You'll meet new friends.  The people you work side by side with will relate to you and you may even find new lifetime friends through volunteering.

If you can't volunteer time, there are many items our animals could use.  Donations of food, animal supplies and aluminum cans are appreciated.  Money received from aluminum cans will be used to treat animals with special medical needs such as heartworm treatment.  Gently used towels and blankets that you kids think are too babyish will be enjoyed by our animals. See our wish list for lots of other ideas.
